„Around the time I was planning this production I had the urge to produce a „Standards“ album being convinced that the idea of a „standard“ for my generation would be mostly Pop tunes of the 1960ies and 70ies. It turned out that I finally went for the Beatles, definitely the musical heroes of my youth days! I decided to write for a different line-up for each song, from duo to octet, and I took many liberties while arranging the music. Of course there are no vocals and no guitars. Finally I realized that the songs by John Lennon and Paul McCartney are precious, timeless little jewels – and that the Beatles first (and main-) producer George Martin did an absolutely incredible job!“
